Children's Packed lunches lack fruit and veg; BBC News Online

The School Fund Trust which examined 3500 packed lunches in England in 2009 says about 40% of lunchboxes do not contain any fruit or vegetables.
Parents have less and less time to make packed lunches, it is said that parents spend 8 days a year making packed lunches for their children, and school dinners are often expensive.
It is important to promote and encourage healthy eating in our children and it is disappointing that children are going to school with lunchboxes that are not filled with the types of foods that are so important for a healthy future.
Following immense success, Grunwerg have extended the range of the Out For Lunch Food Flasks. Not only perfect for the ‘credit crunch choice’ but also encouraging our children to eat a healthy, varied, filling diet whilst at school as well as not wasting any leftovers.
Patricia Mucavele, research and nutrition manager at the School Food Trust tells us that, ‘It can sometimes be difficult for parents to control what their children eat, particularly if they are passing shops on the way home from school or visiting their friends. But parents can influence what is in their packed lunches and the fact that not all of them are doing so is a missed opportunity.’
The new Out For Lunch range includes 4 new colours; Metallic Grey, Metallic Green, Metallic Blue and Stainless Steel. All colours are available in 3 sizes, 380cc, 480cc and 580cc and each Flask has a foldable stainless steel spoon inside. With a durable outer body, double wall construction and stainless steel inner this is a hardy product that will withstand the ruff and tumble inside any school bag.
